Falcon 10X Certification Delayed To 2029 Another new aircraft in flight testing is now facing a delay that will see its service entry slip from 2027 to 2029! The Dassault Falcon 10X is this new aircraft and the news was alluded to in Dassault's half-year financial results press conference. Dassault Falcon CEO Eric Trappier there is now a much tighter and more stringent regulatory environment since the Boeing 737 Max debacle.
“Ever since the Boeing accidents, certification has become a more complicated matter,” Trappier said. “Here we have a completely new aircraft. There are new rules, new certification rules that did not apply on the 6X, for instance, and so we expect the process to take longer. We remain cautious, and we say—we’re after the first flight—say, 2029. You have to allow two and a half years, maybe, for certification.”
The Falcon 10X only recently made its first test flight last month on June 19th. However, the second flight test article is nearing completion at the Mérignac-based factory. The third flight test article will be fitted with a full cabin interior to be able to evaluate the cabin environment and related systems. Even though the CEO hinted at the delay to 2029, he still is not giving a definite yes that 2029 will hold. There are just to0 many variables at play currently.
